The Mjøstårnet building designed and created by the architectural firm Voll Arkitekter, is the first skyscraper made of Mass Timber in the world. With 18 floors and a total height of 85.4 meters, Mjøstårnet was named the world’s tallest timber building by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) when it was completed in March 2019. This project in Norway was a before and after in the world of wood construction, because it proved that height is not an issue for Mass Timber, and that a building constructed with this system can be used to meet all housing and commercial needs. Knowing these projects allows us to inform the possibilities of Mass Timber, and why its application is increasingly used.
